Tournament details:

1. The 2025 Women’s Doubles Tournament, sponsored by the Sun City Tennis Club, is open to all members of the Club.

2. Entry fee is $5 per person. Please purchase a “ticket” above to register to play in the tournament or sign up at the courts and pay at your first match.

3. Prior to the tournament or at any time during the tournament if a team recognizes that there may be a scheduling conflict, the team should contact the tournament director.  An attempt to work around conflicts will be attempted but cannot be guaranteed.

4. All matches will be three sets with the third set being a 10 point tiebreaker, unless all players agree to play out third set.  Individual sets will be determined by the normal 7-point tiebreaker.  The Coman tiebreaker format will be used for all tiebreakers.

5. Players will officiate their own matches.  A member of the Tournament Committee will be present at all matches and will answer any questions.

6. Players are to inform a Committee member of when they are going to play.  All matches are to be played on the Mountain Vista courts.

7. Donations from individuals who do not desire to play will be gratefully accepted.

8. Tournament play cannot infringe upon Women or Men’s Open play.  If a match is scheduled for the morning hours on Monday through Saturday, the Open Players have priority for the courts.

9. BLIND DRAW – Players will be divided into two categories – skilled and less skilled – by the Tournament Committee.  We will pull names out of a hat blindly.  That is how Partners will be matched.

Our objective is to have as fair, competitive and enjoyable Ladies Doubles Tournament as possible.  The Tournament will support “CHEER BEARS“.  Helping the needy and homeless has been a priority of the Sun City Tennis Club and the Ladies Doubles Tournament for the past 19 years.

More information about Cheer Bears and the Ladies Doubles Tournament:

Tournament play format will be the same as past five years which means each team will have 6 days to play 2 matches during the first week (March 4-9).  If we get 16 ladies to participate, we will be able to have 2 pods of 4 teams each.

Once the sign-up period is completed (March 1) the Committee will use a blind draw to select partners according to ability.  Everyone will play at least 3 matches and no team will be eliminated until the second week.  Brackets will be posted on Sunday, March 3.  The Tournament will benefit CHEER BEARS, a Sun City sewing group.

CHEER BEARS is financially supported by Seniors for Kids but accepts and uses the monies from the Tennis Club Tournament to purchase fabrics, ribbons and special threads.  To date the CHEER BEAR ladies have donated over 6000 bears to the Oro Valley Hospital, Devereux, Foster Care, Seniors for Kids, Banner Medical and Mended Little Hearts.

For the past 19 years helping the needy and homeless has been a priority of the Ladies Doubles Tournament.  Any donation, large or small, will go to the less fortunate and will be much appreciated.  Contributions from ladies who do not participate in the Tournament will be graciously accepted.
