The entire list of the 54 responses to the survey is below, but here is a sampling of key responses:
Question about Tournaments: many thought two week tournaments are too long, folks did not like trying to schedule their own matches. One option suggested is to offer 3 divisions at different skill levels, 4 teams in each. First to sign up gets to play. Others wanted to keep the time frame to one week, culminating with finals and breakfast snacks on a Sunday. Let the Tournament director determines the days and time to play. Members suggested less time on court, possibly no add scoring or 3rd set as a tie breaker. Maybe try a “poker round robin” format, like the pickleball club tournament. Continue to promote a charity. Have small prizes for the winning teams. Try another tournament with the pickleball club, tennis players play a match of pickleball and then pickleball players play a match of tennis. Each team comprises of a tennis player and a pickleball player.
Question on Club Play Schedules. Some asked to define group play skill level so folks know where/when to play. Charge $1 for balls instead of 50 cents beginning the Fall. Post schedules on bulletin board and / or on gates to each court.
Question on Social Activities: Mixed doubles got rave reviews. Women’s doubles socials are well organized by a different volunteer each time. January dinner party should switch back to December and include annual meeting. 20 wanted catered, 22 favor potluck. One thought is to offer hybrid where club provides main dish and members supply all the sides. Door prizes to get folks to come. Spring social – potluck and music, no meeting
Question on Communications: Many members expressed interest in more e-blasts to remind them of events
